About Tung

I am a professional photographer based near Oxford, with more than ten years of experience across portraiture, events, commercial lifestyle photography and cultural documentation.

My work is rooted in curiosity about people and place. I am particularly drawn to Oxford, not only its historic image, but also the diverse communities, businesses, cultural organisations and everyday lives that continually shape the city.

Inspired by the human-centred documentary tradition of photographers associated with Magnum Photos, I look for honest moments, meaningful relationships and visual details that reveal something genuine about the people and environments I photograph. I combine this observational approach with confident direction, careful lighting and a clear understanding of the client’s purpose.

Alongside my independent commercial and documentary work, I have developed extensive high-volume portrait-studio experience. Since joining Zen Shots in 2024, I have independently conducted more than 1,200 sessions involving families, newborns, couples and pets.

For each session, I have managed the complete photographic process myself, from the initial discovery call and creative planning to lighting design, rapport-building, direction and photography. This experience has strengthened my ability to understand people quickly, help nervous clients feel comfortable and create natural, meaningful images under pressure.

I have also taken a leading role in photographer training, sharing practical guidance on storytelling, lighting, posing, shoot structure and client communication. I was honoured to receive Zen Shots’ Employee of the Year award in recognition of my contribution, professionalism and support for colleagues.

For more than ten years, I have also contributed commercial lifestyle photography to Getty Images. My work has been licensed internationally and used by organisations including HSBC, Amex, Barclays and Citibank.

My wider experience includes corporate and cultural events, environmental portraits, product photography and heritage documentation. Recent Oxford work includes photographing a Fusion Arts Creativity Pioneers event associated with the Moleskine Foundation.

Before photography became my principal career, I worked professionally in recording studios as a studio manager and audio mixing engineer. That experience developed my technical discipline, attention to detail, client communication and ability to collaborate calmly within demanding creative environments.

My Approach

I value the individuality of each photographer, but I also believe distinctive creative voices become stronger when they contribute to a shared purpose.

Whether working independently or as part of a team, my aim is to create thoughtful, technically accomplished images that serve the client while retaining honesty, humanity and a clear sense of place.

I am especially interested in photography that documents the changing character of Oxford, its people, institutions, creative communities and everyday life.

I welcome commissions, collaborations and conversations about photography in Oxford, London and beyond.

Success! Message received.
